WCA Social Programme

We are pleased to announce the following social activities to further enhance your WCA experience in Buenos Aires.

Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception:
Sunday, 25 March, 18.00 – 21.00

The opening ceremony will be take place in Room 1, Perito Moreno, at La Rural on Sunday, 25 March.
Doors open: 17.30
Ceremony begins: 18.00
Ceremony closes: 20.00
Welcome Reception: 20.00 – 21.30

The welcome reception will take place in the exhibition hall at La Rural and delegates can enjoy a range of refreshments whilst learning about the latest products and services available from the exhibiting companies.

Congress Dinner and Tango Show:
Wednesday, 28 March, 20.00 - 23.30

Buenos Aires premier tango show, Tango Porteño, has been exclusively reserved for WCA 2012 delegates and the event is now completely sold out.

Located in the centre of Buenos Aires, Tango Porteño recreates the golden age of the forties, a time when tango was enjoyed in every corner of the city. Re-live the glory days and witness the great Argentinean passion, the tango.  The meticulous scenery and costumes at the Tango Porteño create the ultimate framework to transport you to that enchanting time when all Buenos Aires was tango, a truly unforgettable experience.

Closing Ceremony and Farewell Barbecue:
Friday, 30 March, 13.00 – 16.00

Tickets for the farewell barbecue are limited. Please take the voucher that you will receive when you collect your congress badge to the faculty and VIP desk on Tuesday and Wednesday of the congress to exchange it for a ticket. Places at the barbecue are limited due to the venue capacity so do not delay in collecting your ticket.

WCA 2012 will end with the closing ceremony and farewell barbecue from 13.00hrs on Friday, 30 March.  This is a final opportunity to network and socialise with colleagues at WCA 2012.  The closing ceremony will commence with words from the newly elected President of the WFSA, and a farewell speech from the President of WCA 2012, Alfredo Cattaneo.

The ceremony will end with a presentation from the hosts of the next World Congress of Anaesthesiologists®, Hong Kong 2016, who will invite you to join them in Hong Kong for the 16th WFSA World Congress of Anaesthesiologists® from 28 August - 2 September 2016.

The farewell barbecue will be held in the Opera Pampa Hall and El Central and will offer traditional Argentine barbecue food and a range of refreshments. At the Opera Pampa Hall there will also be some stalls offering crafts or regional foods from the different regions of Argentina. A horse show and folk group will provide the final entertainment of what we hope has been a highly enjoyable WCA 2012.
