Weather – March is the last month of the summer with an average daytime temperatures of 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit), 12 hours of daylight of which 7 hours is sunshine.

Time Zone – GMT - 3hours.

Currency and currency exchange– The National Monetary Unit is the Peso and exchange facilities are available at the airport, major hotels and exchange agencies. Credit cards are widely accepted but there are restrictions on withdrawing cash from ATMs (in banks).

Electricity – 220 volts/50Hz throughout Argentina although most hotels will provide a 110 volt supply.

Internet access – Hard wired or wireless connections are available at most larger hotels but not always free of charge.

Mobile/Cell phones– calls using your own phone can be quite expensive. If you are planning to make internal calls you can get a free prepaid Movistar SIM card at phone shops which should work in most European and American phones (you get an Argentinean phone number). You then pay about 20 Pesos (about 7 US-Dollars) for your initial credits and then you can buy further credit (top up cards) from numerous kiosks around the city.

Taxis – easily recognised as they are black with a yellow roof. Can be hailed or ordered, fares are metered but try to avoid large denomination notes and always check your change not just for accuracy but also for genuine bank notes.

Subway (Subte) - fastest and cheapest way to get around the city. Trains run from 05.30 to 10.15.

Visas and Travel Documents - All foreign visitors entering Argentina must present valid passports or other internationally recognised travel documents. It is recommended that delegates find out, from the nearest Argentine embassy or consulate in their own country, the requirements for visas and customs regulations.

If the Argentinean Embassy or Consulate requires a letter of invitation from the Congress Organisers, in order to provide a visa, this can only be sent to the delegate, provided he/she has registered for the Congress. In this case, please send an email request to info@wca2012.com , with your full name and registration ID number.
