About Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, the capital of the Republic of Argentina, is a lively, cosmopolitan city and a fascinating place to visit.  The influence of Spanish, Italian and French style is evident in the superb historical architecture such as the President's Palace (locally known as Casa Rosada or Pink Palace) and the Teatro Colon, and these traditional styles have been skilfully blended with exciting modern design, as in the redeveloped area of the old port (Puerto Madero).

Visitors will find a warm welcome from the Porteños (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are known) and can easily immerse themselves in the culture of the city.  The spirit of the tango is evident across the city and a visit wouldn't be complete without experiencing one of the many spectacular tango shows.

An abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants may make the decision over where to dine a challenging one, but meat-eaters are in for a real treat with the quality and abundance of Argentinean beef, whilst wine-lovers can enjoy some superb wines from around the country.

A series of sightseeing tours will be available for participants and accompanying persons to experience the city, whilst pre- and post-tours will offer a broader experience of Argentina.  Full details will be advertised on the congress website in the coming months.
